Communication and marketing opportunities

The overarching goal of the APP is to create a community for ports and supporting stakeholders that fosters good relations and collaboration among members and the maritime industry as a whole. Focused on all three prongs of port control — governance, management and operations, our robust communication and outreach strategies are dedicated to promoting the increased efficiency of ports and harbors.

As you develop your communication and marketing plans for the coming year, we invite you to learn more about opportunities to participate with the APP.

Events, networking and relationship building

The APP holds two conferences per year:

  • Winter Conference — each January (usually the last week) in Hawaii, the most convenient location for ports and stakeholders on both sides of the Pacific.
  • Annual Conference — APP Annual Conferences follow a pattern of alternating between the North American side of the Pacific and the Eastern. The conference scheduled for 2025 will be held in Nanaimo, B.C., Canada; 2026 will be located in Guam; 2027, Alaska; and 2028, Marshall Islands. For more details on conferences, please visit our dedicated conference website.
  • Sponsorships — Sponsorship of APP conferences are a great way to create additional awareness of your organization and can be an effective marketing tool as part of your overall strategy. Details can be found at www.PacificPortsConference.com (or in the Media Kit).

Print, digital and email communications

  • Pacific Ports Magazine —  Pacific Ports Magazine is published three times each year — March/April, June/July, and October/November.  Each issue features exclusive articles and interviews that share insights, provide project updates, and highlight new technologies and trends. In addition to advertising, ideas for editorial are always welcome.  Please contact Jane McIvor (604-893-8800 / jane@pacificports.org) with your ideas.  For more information on advertising opportunities, contact Philippe Critot (323-578-2452 / philippe@pacificports.org).
  • Digital/onlinewww.pacificports.org provides a great way to promote your company and share your news. Featuring frequent updates from the APP, its members, and the maritime industry at large, the Association’s website provides a centralized hub for members, including a member directory with linked member articles, a locator map plus services and facilities available for each member (including Associates). The site also hosts all digital magazines, plus recaps and presentations from past conferences. The APP also has a strong social media presence via Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, providing yet more ways to get your message out to a key maritime audience.
  • Enews — Semi-monthly emails sent to a validated contact list of over 3,000 maritime stakeholders. In addition to pushing out web-based articles, important industry notices, and upcoming events, APP Enews includes trackable banner advertising.
