The Alberni Harbour, situated on the west coast of Vancouver Island at the head of the Alberni Inlet, is depicted on Canadian Hydrographic Chart #3668. This Inlet is a lengthy fiord, spanning approximately 40 kilometers with an average width of over 1 kilometer. Panamax size vessels can easily navigate through the inlet and harbour. Throughout the year, the Port remains ice-free due to the mild climate, allowing for continuous shipping and marine operations. The absence of bridges or other obstructive structures ensures smooth passage, and the tides are not excessively extreme, maintaining a generally calm surface. Additionally, the Port remains unaffected by ocean swells, facilitating its operations without any hindrance.

• Port Alberni Terminals — Port Alberni Terminals has all the necessary shore services required for international and coastal trade, including Canada Customs and Immigration, shipping agents, stevedoring companies, tugs and shipyards.
  • Berths 1 and 2 — 320 meters (1,050 feet) in length; depth alongside — 11.4 meters (37.5 feet) at zero tide.
  • Berth 3 — 183 meters (600 feet) in length; depth alongside — 12.2 meters (40 feet) at zero tide.
  • Warehouses — Four warehouses totalling 4,645 square meters (50,000 square feet) located on the shipping berths; storage up to 9,000 tonnes with chandlery, water, electricity and telephone services available.
• Marinas
  • China Creek — 88 slips and more than 2,300 lineal feet of side tie moorage with gas dock (both marine fuel and diesel available), a four-lane launch ramp, fish cleaning station, electrical hook-ups and pump-out station.
  • Clutesi Haven Marina — Able to accommodate 170 pleasure craft including 28 covered berths. All berths feature access to hydro and fresh water. Available amenities include fuel docks, a fish cleaning stations, washrooms and picnic areas.
  • Harbour Quay Marina — 15 slips for moorage and more than 2,000 lineal feet of side tie moorage. Other amenities include washrooms, showers, laundry facilities, a security access system and on site management.
  • Fisherman’s Harbour —  Located in the downtown area, Fisherman’s Harbour is a multi-use facility accommodating the commercial fishing fleet, tugs, salvage vessels and pleasure craft. The facility is situated in proximity to a complete supply of shore services, including a shipyard, marine ways, two 1.5 ton electric over hydraulic winches, and a sani-pump station. The modern wharf and concrete float systems features access to hydro and fresh water.
  • Tyee Landing — A multi-use facility accommodating the commercial fishing fleet, tugs, salvage vessels and pleasure craft. The facility is situated in proximity to a complete supply of shore services, including a shipyard, marine ways, two 1.5 ton electric over hydraulic winches, and a sani-pump station. The modern wharf and concrete float systems features access to hydro and fresh water.
  • Centennial Pier — For the enjoyment of the public; special use available by application.
  • Convenience Floats — The Port Authority provides and maintains two convenience floats for use by the recreational boating public. The floats are located in Hook Bay and San Mateo Bay.
• Lease Portfolio — The Port Authority manages over 100 lease and land exchange agreements on behalf of the Federal Crown and Province of British Columbia. The majority of the Port’s foreshore leases are for log storage in the Provincial portion of the harbour. On the uplands fronting the Federal portion of the harbour, the Port Authority leases land and/or facilities to a variety of marine related businesses.
  • Dock+ – Seafood processing facility: A part of the BC Food Hub Network, it is a shared 17,000 sq. ft. space located at Fisherman’s Harbour. Dock+ conveys a sense of collaboration and support for local businesses, promoting regional food security and sustainable seafood practices. The facility provides various services, including a commercial kitchen, cold storage, salted ice, blast freezer, and processing space, serving as a central hub of the region.
