Port of Everett celebrates opening of new marina fuel dock

June 17, 2025 — On Thursday, June 12, the Port of Everett hosted a dedication ceremony to celebrate the opening of its new fuel dock at the Port of Everett Marina. The event marked the completion of a $8.1 million marina capital investment to better serve the needs of the region’s boating community and national defense.

Port of Everett staff, project partners and community members gathered to celebrate the new fuel dock with brief remarks from Port of Everett officials and Naval Station Everett Captain Stacy Wuthier, followed by self-guided tours of the new facility and complimentary root beer floats. More than 125 people came to check out the new facility.

“As a boater, I’ve had a chance to visit ports throughout the Puget Sound and San Juans Islands, and without a doubt, this is the Number 1 guest dock/fuel dock combination,” Port Commissioner Tom Stiger said.

“The fuel dock is a critical asset to our area – not only to the Navy and the Coast Guard, but to the local police and fire departments, tribal partners, and recreational boating community,” said Port of Everett Executive Director/CEO Lisa Lefeber. “The Marina has transformed significantly over the past 20 years with strategic investments, and this new fuel dock is another step forward in creating Snohomish County’s destination waterfront.”

“While the Navy and the Port [of Everett] may have a different day-to-day mission, our goals are often aligned,” Capt. Wuthier said during the dedication event. “We are neighbors, yes, but more importantly, we are partners working together to strengthen both national defense and regional resilience. This new fuel dock is a perfect example of that cooperation in action.”

The new, 500-foot fuel dock project included upgrades to enhance the visitor experience, expand fueling capacity, and protect the environment, serving not only the needs of recreational and commercial boaters at the largest public marina on the West Coast, but also critical assets of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, City of Everett Police and Fire Departments, Snohomish County Sheriff, tribal partners and more.

The fuel dock project was funded, in part, by a $5.3 million grant from the Department of Defense’s Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation to help offset the cost of this critical waterside facility.
