November 6, 2025 — The Port of Nanaimo is proud to announce the arrival of the first shipment of Isuzu Commercial Truck of Canada (ICTC) vehicles to the BC Vehicle Processing Centre (BCVPC), marking another milestone in the Port’s growing role as a key gateway for Canadian automotive imports.
The shipment arrived this week at the Nanaimo Assembly Wharf, where vehicles will undergo processing and preparation for distribution to dealerships across Western Canada. The BC Vehicle Processing Centre, an SSA Marine Enterprise, provides full-service inspection, modification, and distribution capabilities, supporting a more efficient and sustainable supply chain for automakers and dealers globally.
“This first shipment from Isuzu underscores the confidence major manufacturers have in the Port of Nanaimo’s capabilities and our partners at the BC Vehicle Processing Centre,” said Ian Marr, President & CEO, Port of Nanaimo. “It’s an exciting development and with global trade evolving, having a robust, diversified port network is vital. Nanaimo holds a strong position as an integral part of the Pacific Northwest’s transportation and logistics network, with access to Asia.”
The addition of Isuzu vehicles joins other major brands processed through the facility, further demonstrating the Port’s capacity to manage diverse and growing import volumes. Since its opening in 2019, the BCVPC has been recognized for improving supply chain efficiency, increasing Canada’s needed trade resiliency, and creating local employment opportunities.
“We are thrilled to welcome the first of many Isuzu vehicles destined for Western Canada through the BC Vehicle Processing Centre,” said Ryan McGillis, General Manager, BCVPC. “This new trade route marks a meaningful step in bringing Canadian-bound product directly to Canadian shores, streamlining Isuzu Commercial Truck of Canada’s logistics corridor and supporting their continued growth in this market. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Isuzu Commercial Truck of Canada.”
The Port of Nanaimo and its partners look forward to continued collaboration with Isuzu and other automotive brands to expand services and capacity for future shipments.
