March 26, 2026 — Yara North America was joined by the Port of Stockton, representatives from the offices of Congressman Josh Harder and Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom, Supervisor Mario Gardea, City of Stockton officials, and the Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the completion of a new solar energy installation at the Stockton Liquid Facility.
The installation features a 101.64 kW DC (STC rated) solar photovoltaic system with both carport and roof mounted arrays, bringing clean energy generation directly to the site. The system includes 242 solar panels designed to generate enough electricity to meet 100 percent of the facility’s energy needs.
“This investment demonstrates how our Port community is working together to reduce environmental impacts while supporting regional economic growth,” said Allen Sawyer, Chair of the Port Board of Commissioners. “Projects like this highlight the strong partnerships that help move our Port and our community forward.”
“We are proud to see Yara taking this important step,” said Kirk DeJesus, Port Director. “This solar installation reflects the same commitment to reducing emissions and modernizing operations that guides the Port’s own investments in cleaner equipment and infrastructure.”
“It has been a remarkable milestone to implement Yara North America’s first solar energy system. Yara’s commitment to protect the planet aligns beautifully with the Port’s commitment to minimize its ecological footprint for cleaner air in and around the community,” said Shawn Ross, U.S. Western Operations Manager. “We are confident that the momentum generated by initiatives such as the Stockton Liquids solar project, Stockton Dry’s transition to electric mobile equipment, and ongoing dust collection enhancements will continue to strengthen.”
In addition to producing renewable power, the installation will eliminate approximately 68,321 pounds of CO₂e emissions each year. To put that impact in perspective, the annual emissions reduction is comparable to planting about 800 trees each year and growing them for a full decade.
“This project is a great example of how sustainability and operational excellence can go hand in hand,” said Ricky Carlson, Director of Operations. “We’re proud to see this project come to life and to celebrate the teamwork that made it possible. From planning through installation, this effort reflects the collaboration and commitment of many colleagues working toward a shared goal.”
The installation also supports the transition to cleaner transportation through the addition of two electric vehicle charging stations, enabling employees and visitors to charge EVs while on site.
Yara leadership, partners, and local stakeholders gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the milestone and recognize the role renewable energy can play in advancing Yara’s sustainability ambitions. At the ceremony, Yara was presented with several certificates of recognition honoring the investment and milestone.
