September 30, 2025 — The Port of Everett has secured a $1 million grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) to help fund renovation work at the Jetty Landing Boat Launch, the state’s largest public boat launch. The Port will begin project design early next year with in-water construction anticipated to start in 2027. Work is set conclude no later than February 2028.
With 13 lanes and an average of nearly 30,000 launches each year, the boat launch at 10th Street and West Marine View Drive plays a vital role in regional recreation and emergency access to Puget Sound and beyond.
“We are grateful to the Recreation and Conservation Office for investing in a facility that serves boaters from across Washington,” said Jeff Lindhout, Port of Everett Chief of Marina Operations. “Improvements like this require significant capital beyond what launch fees provide. These new floats answer long-standing requests from boaters and will greatly enhance safety and the overall experience of launching a boat here at the Port of Everett.”
The project will replace up to six floats that support 12 launch lanes. With the existing floats having exceeded their useful life prolonged by many years of interim repairs, the time has come for replacement of these floats to maintain safety and reliability with funding support by RCO. The new floats will be tailored to fit with the existing piles. Work will be performed and completed while maintaining launch access throughout construction.
The RCO, a state agency dedicated to outdoor recreation and habitat protection, awarded the grant through its Boating Facilities Program, which supports the acquisition, development, and renovation of boating facilities. Created in 1964, the Boating Facilities Program provides grants to acquire, develop, and renovate facilities for motorized boats and other watercraft, including launching ramps, guest moorage, and support facilities.
The Port’s project ranked first in a competitive selection process based on public impact, design, and match funding. With thousands of marina slips, miles of walking trails, and easy access to the water, the Port of Everett is a hub for recreation in Snohomish County and has a long history of delivering impactful RCO-supported projects to benefit recreational boating. Most recently, an RCO grant was used to rebuild the Jetty Landing Park restrooms in 2022.
The boat launch averages nearly 30,000 launches per year, peaking at 35,000. The facility is key resource for recreational boaters, tribal fisheries, and emergency responders in Puget Sound.
