Commonwealth Ports Authority elects Ramon Tebuteb as Board Chair

September 30, 2024 – Former Commonwealth Ports Authority vice chair Ramon A. Tebuteb has been elected board chair by a majority vote during a CPA board meeting last Friday.

As part of its agenda during last week’s board meeting, CPA reorganized its board through an election of officers.

During the meeting, director Steve Mesngon made the motion nominating Tebuteb as CPA’s new chair with the motion being seconded by director Thomas Villagomez.

Without any further discussion, Tebuteb was elected chair of the CPA board by a majority vote of four with two abstentions.

Former board chair Joe Ayuyu and former board vice chair Antonio Cabrera abstained from voting.

Immediately following his nomination and election, board members said they wanted to see their new chair leading the meeting and asked that former chair Ayuyu step down from the helm of the table to give way for Tebuteb assume his seat as chair.

Ayuyu obliged and invited Tebuteb to take his seat and to head the board meeting onwards.

Tebuteb, in a brief statement, thanked his fellow board members for their vote of confidence.

Meanwhile, director Villagomez stated it was his privilege to nominate director Mesngon to serve as vice chair. Former vice chair Cabrera was also nominated but he declined the nomination.

Following five yes votes and one abstention from director Ayuyu, Mesngon was named the board’s new vice chair.

In addition, director Joseph Diaz nominated Villagomez to serve as the board secretary.

Following five yes votes and one abstention from director Ayuyu, Villagomez was elected the board’s new secretary.
