Port of Kaohsiung promotes sustainable practices for Pier 73 cement storage

April 9, 2024 — In order to comply with the international sustainable development trend, Taiwan Port Co., Ltd., in addition to focusing on the development of its core port business, is also actively moving towards ESG corporate sustainable governance goals, continues to implement and promote environmental protection and social responsibility, and actively promotes greenhouse gas emission reduction, carbon Inventory, use energy-saving equipment and implement energy management measures, etc.

The cement cylinder facilities set up in the port area are used by domestic cement companies to store, import and export various cement materials. In response to the global low-carbon environmental protection trend, the Taiwan Port Corporation has completed the construction and revitalization of the existing cement cylinder in the port area. In addition to being used by domestic cement companies to store general cement items, it is also hoped to meet the domestic industry’s goal of contributing to the environment and changing the demand for storage and transfer of low-carbon cement. In addition to reducing carbon emissions, low-carbon cement can also reduce the use of minerals, provide sustainable materials for the construction industry, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to achieve sustainable and co-prosperous development with the environment.

In order to support environmental friendliness and increase the utilization value of port facilities, the Taiwan Port Authority plans and handles the investment invitation for cement round warehouses at the rear of Pier 73. This round of bidding includes four cement round warehouses ( with a total capacity of 60,000 tons) . ) , as well as ancillary facilities such as delivery rooms, logistics administrative offices, and car washing equipment, and to meet the operational needs of the operators, include the conditions for the operators to update cement mechanical and electrical and conveying equipment in the investment conditions, so as to encourage the operators to invest in more efficient new mechanical and electrical and shore power Facilities can be leased for up to 20 years.

The Kaohsiung Port Branch stated that the site for this tender is located at the rear site of Kaohsiung Port Pier 73. The storage capacity of this cement round warehouse is the largest cement storage in Kaohsiung Port, and can fully provide operators with storage in response to market environment, industrial changes and export demand. Various types of cement, coupled with the good terminal facilities and water depth conditions of Pier 73 , can provide high-quality transportation conditions for the companies stationed there. This investment project is expected to start the investment process before the end of April 2020. We sincerely welcome the industry to evaluate and participate in the bidding.
