December 16, 2024 — San Francisco Bay Ferry has joined Green Marine, the maritime sector’s leading voluntary environmental certification initiative. This commitment highlights its dedication to advancing eco-friendly ferry services, contributing to a sustainable future for the San Francisco Bay Area.“Joining Green Marine’s robust program aligns with our fundamental values,” said Jim Wunderman, Chair of the SF Bay Ferry Board of Directors. “Using the program’s detailed framework will continually guide our efforts to advance our environmental performance.”

San Francisco Bay Ferry will conduct an in-depth assessment of its environmental practices to achieve Green Marine certification. This detailed evaluation covers issues such as greenhouse gases and air pollutants, oily discharge, waste management, and ship recycling. The certification process is rigorous and transparent, with results independently verified every two years and individual results released annually.
