June 30, 2026 — To implement information equity and promote government data openness, the Maritime and Port Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications recently comprehensively optimized the accessibility features and open report formats of the “iMarine Port Development Database.” In May 2026, it successfully obtained the AA level of the “Web Accessibility Label,” and in June, it received the “Platinum Label” for 53 datasets from the Government Data Open Platform. This lays a solid data foundation for the digital transformation of Taiwan’s port industry and demonstrates the government’s determination to implement “digital inclusion!”
The Port and Port Bureau pointed out that in response to the Ministry of Digital Affairs’ policies and to protect the digital information access rights of different groups, since last year (2025), they have followed the four principles, 13 guidelines, and 78 success criteria of the “Website Accessibility Guidelines” to streamline iMarine’s website structure, standardize color contrast, and implement full keyboard navigation functions… and other accessibility renovation projects, adding visual description and accessibility page labels to each chart and data within the website; After rigorous and complex software testing and manual review, it officially obtained the AA level of the Web Accessibility Label on May 11. This technological upgrade successfully breaks down digital silos, ensuring that every user can equally access key domestic and international port information regardless of equipment or physical limitations.
In addition to improving the website interface, the Maritime and Port Authority has also achieved stricter regulatory requirements in data governance. The bureau uploaded 53 datasets (Port Statistical Reports) to the Government Data Open Platform. After obtaining the “Gold Label” in December 2024, the data structure was upgraded and column reorganization was reorganized, further adjusting the data formats to meet the “Machine-readable” standard. In June this year, they successfully passed the “Platinum Label” test, meaning the datasets are highly structured and can be accessed without the need for specialized commercial software, achieving true popularity. It also significantly lowers the threshold for applying value-added data.
In the face of global supply chain restructuring and net-zero emission reduction, standardized and highly accessible data is a key driving force behind the dual-axis transformation of the port industry. iMarine obtained the AA level of the “Web Accessibility Label,” and 53 datasets passed the “Platinum Mark” test on the Government Data Open Platform, demonstrating the Maritime and Port Bureau’s ability to implement information system standards and deepen data governance.
The Port and Maritime Bureau stated that digital equity and data openness represent an ongoing process of improvement and a long-term policy blueprint. In the future, the bureau will continue to optimize iMarine’s functions and data integrity in accordance with these key standards, strictly overseeing accessibility standards and data openness formats for each new feature. With a more open and intelligent model, the bureau will maximize the value of industry data, lead Taiwan’s maritime transport to connect with international standards, and pioneer a new chapter in digital and sustainable development.
